If you're reading this post, you've made it to 2018. Cheers! We've celebrated, prayed, hugged loved ones, and wrote our goals. Now its back to the real. I'll keep it short and sweet.
Another reality check has caused me to do a bit of self-reflection. How often do we judge, assess, & ridicule the lives of others without ever turning a mirror to ourselves. In 2018 and every year beyond, we should focus our energy on self reflection. Are we being a good friend to others? Being a good friend means listening to understand, not listening to respond or to talk about yourself. It means being a support system and being honest. Are we constantly complaining about our circumstances without trying to change them? If you're in the same dead end job or even dead end relationship and have not gone on any interviews for a new career or new significant other lol, than you don't get to complain. If you are someone that never votes, never gets involved in your state, or even your neighborhood than YOU are part of the problem. We should constantly be reflecting on the type of person we want to be and what we need to do to make that a reality. Also, you may think you’re being a good person, but it might not be coming off that way. Reflect on how you approach conflict AND how you handle it. Sometimes our tone gets us in trouble. We've all been there.
Judge not. You have no idea why that young man is homeless, or why that young girl is a mother. We are all one decision or tragedy away from having a completely different life. Be the best you, without looking down on others.
